Nationalism is the heart of our nation. It is what we need as a people. It is the one thing in our lives that mainly affects the state and progress of our nation. Without nationalism, a nation can never be considered as true. This is because this nationalism brings devotion and love into our hearts - the values needed in order for us to serve our country and its people. Without the people who willingly serve for everyone’s good, a nation would be meaningless. Serving our nation would also mean loving the people in it, along with everything else that the country holds within. With this devotion and love, we will be enlightened with the dedication and confidence in order for us to put our nation first in everything that we do. This very nationalism will also make us willing to sacrifice ourselves for the betterment of our countrymen. A nation filled with people all concerned for the better would mean its efficient success, progress, and improvement. Furthermore, nationalism also involves being proud of our own country and race. When we show national pride in our nation, we will be able to uphold our people’s culture, values, and other unique practices.

Nationalism is one way to show pride and appreciation towards our country. Because being nationalistic involves service towards our countrymen, it helps us grow and develop as responsible citizens of our country - men for others - so that we may eventually improve the lives of those living here in the Philippines. In the world today, many people think that nationalism is a feeling of superiority over others. But to tell you the truth, we do not need to consider ourselves better over others in order to be described as nationalistic. In fact, all we need is that small ounce of pride over our accomplishments as true Filipinos, along with the love and devotion towards our country. Being nationalistic helps us strengthen our own individual identity as Filipinos as it also helps strengthen our culture as a people. Being nationalistic also means that we are proud to be who we are, and therefore, proud to be Pinoy.
