The word hero has many interpretations. It can mean a man who stood up to his oppressors, or a man who embodies good characteristics. Yet, what is a hero? In our country, some of our heroes are those who stood up to the colonizers, those who sought freedom. Some of our heroes are those seek to unite the country and fight for the people. Some of our heroes do what is best for the country, in their own different ways. Our heroes fought for our freedom, our heroes fought to maintain it. These are the stories of our modern day Filipinos. These are the lives of heroes, heroes of the present.

Dr. Roel Cagape is a receipient of the Gawad Geny Lopez Jr. Bayaning Pilipino award for the individual category. He is a doctor in General Santos city and gives free medication to those in need. Click the his image for more details.
Tomas Leonor is one of the seven recognized filipinos in the Pitong Pinoy of Yahoo Philippines. He is the founder and organizer of Step Juan, an expedition which aims to raise funds for children with cancer. Click his image for more details.
Being blind is never easy, yet this does not stop this Pitong Pinoy 2.0 awardee. Since he was a child, Ted Peonferrada has been visually impaired, that is why he fights for the rights of his fellow blind Filipinos. Click his image for more details.
Tzarina Saniel is a teacher who believes that old books will help the Filipinos connect to their past and become better Filipinos in the process.
